TFP stretched the boundaries of modern rock on their major-label debut "Living in the Shadow of the Bat", where captivating melodies and spoken-word musings combined with elements of Hip-Hop, Progressive and Riff Rock. Now the band is back with (Grammy nominated & multi Juno award winning) producer Brandon Friesen to realize a killer collection of stellar, road-tested tracks that combine a series of all-new twists and turns with the signature sounds of the band. "Age of Vipers" is an album deep with songs that translate incredibly to the stage.

"Age of Vipers" was written largely during TFP's extended periods of touring in support of "LITSOTB" and is an album of songs that translate incredibly to the stage, allowing for the always powerful and electrifying live modern rock experience that is Tin Foil Phoenix. The new album features trademark TFP spoken-word thrillers like "Not How the West Was Won" (about dealing with suicide) and "Have a Nice Day", energetic alt-rockers like "Hurry Home" (exploring the enigma of the prodigal son), explosive anthems such as title track "Age of Vipers" as well as the band's popular cover version of The Soggy Bottom Boys "Man of Constant Sorrow".

With the release of "AGE OF VIPERS", Tin Foil Phoenix continue to consistently deliver intriguing and memorable songs that are unlike that of any other Canadian band.

The debut disc features aggressive rockers such as the ambitious "We'll Get to Venus" and the political "Bum Rush the Motorcade" to the pseudo-balladry of the anthemic "The Outside". The enhanced CD also contains the unedited version of (as well as the video for) resounding underdog anthem Neopolitan, hit single Ms. Genova (about consoling a parent who lost a child) and "James Spader", titled after the Sex, Lies and Videotape and The Practice star.

For the most part, this was the most over-looked band at Canadian Rock radio in 2004 and that is an absolute crime. Winnipeg's Tin Foil Phoenix (originally known as Sonic Bloom) was signed to Chad Kroeger's 604 Records and I will admit to being a tad prejudiced about the band because of that. Being on 604, I was expecting another band in the vein of Nickelback, Theory of a Deadman or Default (not that that is necessarily a bad thing, as they are all great rock bands, but that just wasn't what I was looking for at the time.) Then I popped in the disc and heard "Neopolitan" and my expectations were shattered. Michael Allen Zirk is an absolute brilliant lyricist (just check out the two songs listed below for examples) and the entire band is a talented group of musicians. This is THE new Canadian rock band. I sincerely hope that 2005 will be the year of the Tin Foil Phoenix. Do yourself a favor and pick this one up!

Standout Tracks: Neopolitan & James Spader
